Klaus has never asked what Caroline wants.
He “gave” Tyler back to her, which sure, could be “romantic” in a really roundabout way if it weren’t for the fact that he’s the one who promised to kill Tyler if he came around.
He couldn’t let Caroline be happy with Tyler on prom night. AKA the one night she really wanted to be happy.
He almost killed her and was willing to let her die as long as he got what he wanted.
BASICALLY Caroline can’t be happy unless Klaus is happy and has everything he wants.
